Net neutrality

Ok, I have been listening to the baloney going back and forth about "net neutrality".
The biggest thing missing from this discussion is all the tax money the telecoms took to "support communities" when the internet was taking off . All kinds of community grants, subsidies, right of ways for access all to "help get us all wired".
Now that we are all wired so to speak the telecoms want to hold us hostage by charging premiums for infrastructure we subsidized! does anyone else find this ridiculous?
someone has to take the heads of these corporations and break it down to them is ways they can understand like if you buy a lot , and build a house, and pave a driveway to your house, can the local snow plow operator put a toll booth at the end of your driveway?
because that is exactly what they want to do to us. I have no problem with corporate profits , but as you all know I have a problem with BS. and greed . that is exactly the category this falls under

Over the Labor day weekend the "BIG" news was how hackers got into famous female celebrity's Icloud © accounts.

Ok lets start at the beginning of this stupidity,
-these people know they are celebrities
-they know hackers and low lifes would love naked pictures of them
-they have to be at least moderately intelligent to get to the levels they are at
-there have been other cases of people hacking cell phones for naked pictures

So we have reasonably intelligent   people who take naked pictures of themselves on their cell phones, upload them to the cloud, and when they get hacked they go crying all the way to the bank with their free publicity.

Sorry if you are stupid enough to take naked pictures on your cell phone , don't cry that they ended up in the public eye. If you want that stuff private, use a camera and keep it stored offline. This is coming from someone who isn't an internet security expert, but you cant hack something that isn't online or connected to the internet.

I personally do not have naked pictures of myself (lucky you) but if I did, you can bet I would not sore them on my computer, in case someone hacked my router or sent me an email with a virus giving them access to my computer. COMMON SENSE is not that common, so lets drop the drama about these people who put themselves in the public eye, and left their pictures in online storage where anyone with the time and effort could hack into them, lets remember locks only keep honest people honest, the real determined criminals will always find a way in.

greed

Ok here we go, again...warning try to hold your cookies down while I tell you a story of stomach wrenching greed.
So in Red Deer Alberta is a seniors home
http://www.symphonyseniorliving.com
looks beautiful until you find out about how it is being run.. When I say run let me clear. from my understanding the staff there is exceptional, caring responsible people who really care about the residents.
now the problem with how its run. Symphony they are currently (if they weren't in lockout) paying their staff 30% less than the comparable wage of other caregivers (RNs, LPNs,and aids) in the community. So after over a year of negotiating the union rightly so gave strike notice, only to receive lockout notice in return. The really sad thing about this whole situation is that Symphony is owned by the Ontario Teachers Pension
http://www.otpp.com/
Plan(otpp).
How do you like that? Hmmmm lets see , what would happen if the Ontario government said sorry you teachers have to work for 30% less than your peers in other jurisdictions? Do you think they would strike?
yea like there's even any question. Oh wait it gets better, why are the staff in Red Deer paid so low? Simple so the return on investment can be .... whats the magic number? Thats right 30% per year.. The otpp wants to make 30% return on the dollar every year on the backs of Seniors and the workers who are caring for our seniors. Who else wants to puke now ??
I don't have a problem with profit, or pension fund or organized labour . But pathetic greed on the backs of the vulnerable and workers is inexcusable . Want a bigger pension fund? Put more money in. Don't do it on the backs of others.

Ok here we are on the edge of an NHL strike/lockout. and the news media is all over it. One thing everyone seems to forget is SPORTS IS NOT NEWS.. If you didnt quite understand the first time. SPORTS IS NOT NEWS. Its entertainment THATS ALL . if all NHL,NFL,NBA,CFL,MLB, and whatever other sports league initials you want to throw in there went on strike tomorrow I could still buy groceries,my job would not be effected, the economy would not collapse, everytthing would be fine. NOT NEWS. and the players are all overpaid entertainers.SO now , sports does not affect or effect my life, and so it its not news. at the most it might be entertaining , thats it, will everyone please let the appropriate talking heads know this, thank you... this truly is stupid shit I have seen.sports as news ...yea whatever

No more phone solicitations

First of all let me say I am not advocating stopping donating to charities.
That being said, about 8 months ago I got a phone solicitation for a new charity I
have never heard of, it was "Barnwell Community Against Drugs". Wow sounds great!
The caller even told me how they had saved 500 kids in our community from drugs,
wow again!  One itsy bitsy problem; I am the Mayor of Barnwell, and after doing our
census last year I know we don't have that many kids.  I have never ever heard of
this program, surely someone on Village council would have mentioned such an awesome program in
passing. The longer I talked to him the more holes seemed to develop in the so-called charity. I tried to get as much information as possible to pass to the RCMP, when I got a little too nosy
he hung up.
My wife and I made a decision right there no more donations over the phone, and what a response
we have gotten!  Everything from surprise to actual anger, we politely say "we no longer donate over the
phone but if you would like to mail us some information, we would be happy to take a look at it and decide."
You have to be ready for this come back they all will give, which is "Ok what can I put you down for a commitment?". To which we reply " Nothing, its my money and I will decide where to donate it."
I am happy to report we still give regularly to charities, but the phone calls are down about 90%.
We also feel more comfortable opening the credit card bill at the end of the month knowing we
haven't bought a surf board in Bali or something goofy like that because we gave our credit card number out
over the phone to someone we can't identify.
I feel if we can start to spread the word that this is what our communities are doing, we might actually
get a real decrease in phone solicitations.

follow the money

Alberta has had the lowest corporate taxes in Canada for years, and now it is literally hurting our province, Banks not paying any business tax. this is ridiculous. please watch this
